Itinerary

Day 1 - Arrive in Thessaloniki

Καλώς ήρθατε, which means welcome in Greek, to Thessaloniki, the second-largest city in Greece!

Upon your arrival at the airport, our team will be there to greet you and ensure a smooth, private transfer to your hotel. 

If you arrive in the morning, your initial transfer will take you to the hotel, allowing you to leave your luggage. Subsequently, take the opportunity to explore or savor a delightful lunch in Thessaloniki’s center until your check-in at 3:00 pm.

After settling into your hotel, our knowledgeable local guide will meet you in the hotel lobby for a 2-hour orientation tour of Thessaloniki. This sprawling, modern city stands atop layers of ancient ruins, and we understand it can be overwhelming for a first-time visitor. Let our guide lead you through the neighborhood surrounding your hotel, offering valuable local insights on where to go and what to do. It’s the perfect way to kickstart your Thessaloniki experience!

Day 2 - Philippi & Kavala - Apostle Paul's footsteps

Embark on a journey to Kavala, Greece’s most picturesque mainland port, boasting an elegant harbor. This historic city holds a significant place in biblical history, as Paul, accompanied by disciples Timothy and Silas, landed here. Luke, the Evangelist, also journeyed from Troas to Kavala. Formerly known as Neapolis, this ancient city was later renamed Christoupolis for being the first European city to embrace Christianity. Picture yourself walking on the same ground as these biblical figures!

As we explore Kavala, witness the grandeur of the Roman Aqueduct and the remnants of the Acropolis in this beautifully situated city, renowned as Kavala since the 5th century.

Our journey continues to Philippi, where Paul delivered his inaugural evangelical sermon and baptized the first Christians on European soil. At the baptismal site, marvel at the place where Lydia surrendered her life to Christ. Explore a crypt from the Roman period, believed to have served as a prison for Paul. Delve into the historic sites of Philippi, including the famous Acropolis, Market Place, Basilica, and Theatre.

Then return to Thessaloniki for an overnight stay.

Day 3 - Ancient Thessaloniki Tour - Apostle Paul's footsteps

The New Testament books of I & II Thessalonians will come alive to us today as we visit the delightful harbor city of Thessalonica.

Embark on a comprehensive exploration of Thessaloniki’s captivating landmarks and hidden historical gems with the guidance of a knowledgeable local guide. This morning tour promises an immersive experience, offering insights into the city’s rich history. Delve into the Ancient Agora, stand before the Arch of Galerius, and marvel at the Rotunda of Galerius and the Galerius Palace, each narrating a unique tale of Thessaloniki’s past. Venture off the beaten path to discover the vibrant life of the city, navigating through bustling markets and charming back alleys that unveil the local way of living. Admire the iconic White Tower for a panoramic 360° view, explore Greece’s oldest Christian church nestled in a residential district, and descend underground to uncover the grave of Agios Dimitrios, the city’s Patron Saint. Join us for a morning of historical immersion, combining iconic landmarks with the charm of Thessaloniki’s local culture.

Day 4 - Veria, Vergina, Meteora Monasteries - Apostle Paul's footsteps

Today, we depart from Thessaloniki and head to Veria in Northwestern Greece. Our first stop is at the synagogue where Apostle Paul once preached. In Veria, we visit the Church of Apostle Paul and the marble “Vima of Apostle Paul,” where he spoke to the townspeople. Continuing to the Ancient town of Vergina, we explore the King’s tombs, including the one belonging to Alexander the Great’s father. Passing by King Phillip’s tomb in Vergina, we receive commentary on Apostle Paul’s teachings. Finally, we arrive in the charming town of Kalambaka, near the iconic monasteries of Meteora. In the afternoon, we marvel at the world-famous Byzantine monasteries perched on rock pinnacles with diverse shapes. Built in the 14th century, these monasteries have a rich history, originating from monks seeking refuge in cliffside caves. Our evening accommodation is in the tranquil Meteora area.

Day 5 - Delphi & Arachova - Tracing Apostle Paul's Journey

Journeying south from Meteora, our tour unfolds in the enchanting mountain region of Delphi, the ancient sanctuary dedicated to Apollo. Delve into the Greek religious heritage and its impact on the early Christian church, following in the footsteps of Apostle Paul.

Embark on a picturesque drive through mainland Greece, culminating in the exploration of the UNESCO-listed Classical site of Delphi. Renowned as the “Center of the World” in Ancient Greece, the Delphi Archaeological Site boasts iconic monuments such as the revered Temple of Apollo. After immersing in history, take time to wander through the historic village of Arachova. Nestled amphitheatrical on the southern hillsides of Parnassus at an altitude of 960 meters, Arachova is a captivating blend of wild beauty, traditional charm, and cosmopolitan allure. The village, perched on a cliff where the Pleistos river flows, offers a vibrant atmosphere and a myriad of activities against the backdrop of majestic Parnassus.

As the day unfolds, we continue south past Thermopylae to Athens, our home for the next three nights. The journey brings together history, spirituality, and culinary delights, offering a truly enriching experience.

Day 6 - Athens

Commence your Athens tour at Syntagma Square, the city’s vibrant heart, flanked by neoclassical structures and steeped in historical significance. Learn about King Otto’s pivotal decision to relocate the Greek Kingdom’s capital to Athens and the choice of Syntagma Square for his palace.

Witness the Evzones and the changing of the guard at the tomb of the unknown soldier, steeped in tradition dating back centuries. Follow the legendary hero Theseus’ path through Athens, passing by landmarks like the Acropolis and Ancient Agora

Explore Plaka, Athens’ oldest continuously inhabited neighborhood, wandering through ancient streets past iconic sites such as Diogenes Square, Hadrian’s Arch, the Jupiter (Zeus) temple ruins, the National Gardens, Zappeion, and the historic Panathinaiko Stadium.

The tour concludes by immersing you in present-day Athens, experiencing local life and modern architecture while enjoying a traditional coffee and local sweets.

Day 7 - Ancient Corinth - Tracing Apostle Paul's Journey

Embark on a half-day tour to Ancient Corinth, a pivotal Christian destination in Greece, offering a unique opportunity to follow in the footsteps of the Apostle Paul. The journey leads you along the picturesque mainland coast to Peloponnese. En route, make a brief stop at the Corinth Canal, a nearly four-mile-long waterway connecting the Ionian and Aegean seas, constructed in 1890. Marvel at the ancient Diolkos on its western edge, where boats were once transported by land.

Arriving at Ancient Corinth, one of Saint Paul’s beloved cities, immerse yourself in the historical richness. Explore the Ancient Market and the Bema of Apostle Paul or Galionas, a prominent elevated rostrum in the center of the Roman Forum. This monument, likely transformed into a Christian church during the Byzantine period due to its connection to Saint Paul, holds historical significance. Walk the paths where the Apostle of Nations once walked and preached centuries ago.

Continue your journey through the commercial town of Corinth, visiting the Apostolos Pavlos Church founded around 51-52 AD. Gain insights into Saint Paul’s presence and life in the city, exploring the church and learning about his stay with the Jews of Achilles and Priscilla. Progress to Kechrias Port, delving into the details of Saint Paul’s second missionary journey and his fulfillment of a vow by shaving his head.

Day 8 - Departure

Savor your last breakfast in Greece before your scheduled airport transfer. Your driver will ensure you reach the airport in time for your journey back home. Climate Crisis Resilience Tax

As of January 1st 2024, a Climate Crisis Resilience Fee will be imposed, to all hotels in Greece as follows:

All hotels in Greece are required to implement a new environmental fee defined as the Climate Crisis Resilience Fee. This feewas established under Article 30 of Law 5073/2023 and replaces the previous Accommodation Tax.

The fee is to be paid by guests staying in hotels, furnished rooms/apartments (rooms to let), and short-term rentals.Accommodations are responsible for collecting this fee from guests and remitting it directly to the tax authorities.

The Climate Crisis Resilience Fee is charged per room, per night and must be collected from hotel guests. The specificamount of the fee varies based on the hotel’s category and the period of the stay, as detailed below:
