Visit Princes Islands as a short excursion from Istanbul and walk around the island called Buyukada.
The destination is Buyukada, the largest one of the small islands chain. These islands are famous for their mild climate, lush vegetation, and ornate Ottoman houses. Automobiles are prohibited in the islands, helping create a tranquil atmosphere that will ease you out of your modern mindset. You will enjoy a circular tour of Buyukada, passing elegant mansions draped in brilliant hues of bougainvillea. Buyukada is also home to the sixth century Aya Yrgi Greek Orthodox Church and Monastery. It is the largest of the Princes’ Islands, pine-forested, and has beaches where one may swim in the warm months.
Lunch at one of the many excellent and traditional fish restaurants on the waterfront from where you will gaze across the water to the Asian shore of Istanbul, so close though it will feel worlds away. Selections other than fish will be available
You can meet the guide at the “True Blue Tour” office or we can pick you up from your hotel if it is located in or near Sultanahmet/Taksim. Please advise us of your hotel details if you wish to be picked up.
