Day 2. Iconic Landmarks of Casablanca
Your morning begins with a visit to the Hassan II Mosque, a true architectural marvel perched dramatically over the Atlantic Ocean. One of the few mosques in Morocco open to non-Muslim visitors, it boasts intricate zellij tilework, a retractable roof, and the world’s tallest minaret.
From there, continue to the Habous Quarter, also known as the New Medina. Built by the French in the 1930s with traditional Moroccan design in mind, this neighborhood offers a charming maze of archways, bookstalls, olive markets, and handicraft shops. Take time to explore artisan boutiques selling brassware, leather goods, and pastries like the famed cornes de gazelle.
Next, head to the city center, where Casablanca’s Art Deco architecture unfolds in wide boulevards and elegant façades. Stroll through The Square of Mohammed V, lined with impressive colonial-era buildings, fountains, and palm trees, capturing the city’s unique fusion of European influence and North African spirit. Return to the hotel after the end of the tour.
