RESPONSIBLE-TRAVEL

Responsible Travel

We were among the first tour operators in Türkiye to apply sustainable travel practices, and we've spent the years since building on that foundation rather than retrofitting it.

Responsible Travel

For more than 25 years, True Blue Tour has created journeys across Türkiye, Morocco, Greece, Armenia, Georgia, and Egypt—destinations where history, culture, and nature are living heritage rather than simply attractions. We believe tourism should contribute positively to the places we visit, protecting their cultural identity, natural environments, and local communities for future generations.

Sustainability is not a separate initiative at True Blue Tour—it is part of how we operate every day. Long before responsible travel became an industry expectation, we were integrating sustainable practices into our itineraries, supplier relationships, and guide training. As one of the early tour operators in Türkiye to embrace sustainable tourism principles, we continue to improve our operations through internationally recognized standards and measurable actions.

Certifications & Memberships

Travelife

True Blue Tour is a Travelife Member and is actively progressing through the Travelife certification framework for tour operators. We are working toward achieving Travelife Certified status, with our sustainability management, supplier relationships, office operations, environmental performance, labour practices, and community engagement being assessed against internationally recognized criteria.

Global Sustainable Tourism Council (GSTC)

We are also a proud member of the Global Sustainable Tourism Council (GSTC), the international organization responsible for establishing globally accepted sustainability standards for the travel and tourism industry. Our membership ensures that our sustainability approach remains aligned with internationally recognized best practices rather than self-declared commitments.

Together, these frameworks provide independent benchmarks that help us continually improve and remain accountable for the environmental, social, and economic impacts of our operations.

Supporting the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals

Our operations and tour design are guided by the principles of the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), with particular emphasis on the following objectives:

  • Goal 8 – Decent Work and Economic Growth
Supporting fair employment opportunities for local guides, drivers, and tourism professionals across every destination we operate.
  • Goal 11 – Sustainable Cities and Communities
Designing itineraries that reduce pressure on overcrowded attractions while encouraging visits to lesser-known destinations and locally owned businesses.
  • Goal 12 – Responsible Consumption and Production
Reducing unnecessary waste, limiting single-use plastics, and encouraging responsible resource consumption throughout our tours and office operations.
  • Goal 14 & Goal 15 – Life Below Water & Life on Land
Working with suppliers and partners who respect marine ecosystems, wildlife, and natural habitats across every region we visit.
  • Goal 17 – Partnerships for the Goals
Collaborating with local communities, heritage organizations, conservation initiatives, and trusted tourism partners to create lasting positive impacts.

How We Put Sustainability into Practice

Cultural heritage, Protected, Not Just Packaged

Our roots are in archaeology and ground guiding, not marketing. Our itineraries are built with genuine respect for the sites, artisans, and traditions they showcase — never at their expense.

Supporting Local Communities

Whenever possible, we work with family-owned accommodation providers, independent artisans, locally owned restaurants, and regional businesses. By keeping tourism revenue within local communities, we help create sustainable economic opportunities for the people who make each destination unique.

Licensed, Trained Local Guides

Every tour is led by properly licensed local guides — the people best equipped to interpret a place accurately and respectfully, and the people who benefit most directly when that expertise is valued.

Small Group by Design

Our small-group and private tour model is a sustainability choice as much as a quality one — smaller footprints, less strain on fragile sites, and more meaningful engagement with the places we visit.

Reducing Our Footprint

We continuously seek practical ways to reduce our environmental footprint by minimizing single-use plastics, encouraging responsible resource consumption, and selecting accommodation and transportation partners that demonstrate credible environmental practices.

Animal Welfare

We do not promote or include experiences that exploit, mistreat, or endanger animals. Activities involving wildlife are carefully evaluated to ensure they meet recognized animal welfare standards and prioritize responsible interaction.

Where We're Headed

Sustainability is an ongoing commitment rather than a final destination. As we continue progressing toward full Travelife Certification and remain actively engaged with GSTC principles, we regularly review and improve our practices to reflect evolving environmental research, industry standards, and regulatory requirements across the destinations where we operate.

Our goal is simple.. to create unforgettable travel experiences while protecting the people, cultures, and environments that make those experiences possible.
