Why This Tour

What sets this journey apart

01

Small Group, Better Experience

With a maximum of 14 travelers, this is designed to feel personal and carefully managed. You travel with the ease of a planned route, the depth of expert guiding and the atmosphere of a small group rather than a coach tour.

02

Local Access With Purpose

A women’s cooperative lunch in Cappadocia, an artisan workshop in Avanos, a village stay in the Aegean and a cooking class near Ephesus are not decorative add-ons. They are part of how the journey reveals Turkey through people, food, craft and daily life.

03

Expert Guiding With Context

Turkey is layered: Greek, Roman, Byzantine, Seljuk, Ottoman and modern Turkish stories all meet along this route. Your guides help connect monuments, landscapes, architecture, food and local traditions into a journey that feels meaningful, not simply impressive.

04

Operated by True Blue Tour

True Blue Tour has been operating in Turkey since 2001. This journey reflects years of local knowledge — the routes, timing, hotels, guides, restaurants and regional relationships that make each day work smoothly on the ground.

The Experience

What this journey feels like

This is Turkey through contrast and connection.

The journey begins in Istanbul, where imperial monuments, underground cisterns, mosque courtyards, markets and the Bosphorus reveal a city shaped by empires and everyday life in equal measure.

In Cappadocia, the mood changes completely. Volcanic valleys, fairy chimneys, cave churches, underground cities, local crafts and village kitchens create a landscape unlike anywhere else in the country. The optional hot air balloon flight adds a memorable perspective, but the region’s real depth comes from the stories held in its valleys, homes and workshops.

The Aegean brings another layer: ancient Ephesus, village life in Şirince, olive oil, seasonal food, local wine and a softer pace. By the time the journey ends in Bodrum, with its whitewashed lanes, harbor light and coastal atmosphere, Turkey feels less like a list of famous places and more like a country whose rhythm you have begun to understand.

"This is the homeland of boundless skies... Elsewhere people die and lie in light — here, you live in it."

Cevat Şakir Kabaağaçlı (The Fisherman of Halicarnassus)

Your 10-day itinerary

Istanbul

Welcome to Istanbul!

Arrive in Istanbul, the city where this journey begins between continents, waterways, and centuries of history. Upon arrival, you will be met and transferred to your hotel. The rest of the day is at leisure, so you can rest after your flight or begin exploring the surrounding neighborhood at your own pace. In the evening, meet your guide and fellow travelers over a welcome dinner.

Walk through the old imperial heart of Istanbul..

Today, step into Istanbul’s old imperial heart, where Roman, Byzantine and Ottoman legacies still stand side by side. Begin at the Hippodrome, once the ceremonial and sporting center of Constantinople, before visiting the Blue Mosque, admired for its cascading domes, elegant courtyards and beautiful İznik tiles. Nearby, pause outside Hagia Sophia, one of the world’s great architectural monuments and a powerful symbol of Istanbul’s layered past. Then, descend into the Basilica Cistern, an atmospheric underground reservoir filled with ancient columns, soft reflections and a quiet sense of mystery. Later, continue to the Grand Bazaar, a historic covered market of jewelers, textiles, ceramics, workshops and inherited trading traditions. Optional: Hagia Sophia interior gallery visit can be arranged, subject to current restorations, opening/closing hours.

Stay Istanbul, Divan Istanbul 5* or similar Meals Breakfast

See Istanbul from the water before trading the city’s skyline for Cappadocia’s dreamlike valleys.

This morning, board a private Bosphorus cruise and sail between Europe and Asia, passing Ottoman palaces, wooden waterfront mansions, old fortresses and neighborhoods that show Istanbul at its most alive. Back on land, continue to the Spice Market, one of the city’s most colorful and sensory corners. Browse stalls filled with spices, dried fruits, teas, sweets and local treats, with the energy of a market that has helped feed Istanbul for centuries. Later, transfer to the airport for your domestic flight to Cappadocia. On arrival, continue to your cave-style or boutique hotel and settle in as the landscape changes completely.

Stay Cappadocia, Agarta Cave Hotel or similar Meals Breakfast

Experience Cappadocia from every angle — above the valleys, beneath the earth and around a local table.

For early risers, the day may begin with an optional sunrise hot air balloon flight over Cappadocia’s valleys, weather permitting. After breakfast, explore the region’s surreal volcanic landscape at Paşabağ, known for its fairy chimneys, cone-shaped rock formations and sculpted towers. Continue with lunch at a local women’s cooperative, where home-style dishes and warm hospitality offer a meaningful taste of Cappadocian village life. In the afternoon, descend into Kaymaklı Underground City, a remarkable network of tunnels, rooms, kitchens and storage spaces carved into soft volcanic rock. End the day with an introduction to Anatolian carpet weaving, where symbols, regional patterns and craftsmanship reveal another layer of local culture.

Stay Cappadocia, Agarta Cave Hotel or similar Meals Breakfast, Lunch

Step away from the main routes to discover Cappadocia’s quieter rock-cut heritage, artisan traditions and everyday rituals.

Today takes you beyond Cappadocia’s busiest paths into quieter corners shaped by faith, landscape and local craft. Visit Açıksaray, a rock-cut monastic complex near Gülşehir, and nearby St. Jean Church, where Cappadocia’s Byzantine heritage feels more intimate and less crowded. Continue to Avanos, a town long associated with the red clay of the Kızılırmak River and generations of pottery making. In a hands-on pottery or tile workshop, learn directly from local artisans and try the craft yourself. Later, sit down for Turkish coffee and fortune telling — a playful social tradition that opens a small window into Turkish hospitality, conversation and everyday life.

Stay Cappadocia, Agarta Cave Hotel or similar Meals Breakfast

Trade Cappadocia’s volcanic valleys for the slower rhythm of Şirince, one of the Aegean’s most charming village escapes.

After breakfast, transfer to the airport for your flight to İzmir, then continue into the Aegean hills to Şirince. Known for its stone houses, narrow lanes, terrace views and fruit wines, this hillside village offers a softer change of pace. After the imperial scale of Istanbul and the surreal landscapes of Cappadocia, Şirince brings the journey into a more intimate rhythm. Check in to your boutique village accommodation and enjoy the rest of the day at leisure, with time to wander, relax or simply take in the atmosphere of village life.

Stay Sirince, Nisanyan Boutique Hotel or similar Meals Breakfast

Walk through one of the Mediterranean’s greatest ancient cities, then end the day with a hands-on Aegean cooking experience.

Today is dedicated to Ephesus, one of the best-preserved ancient cities in the Mediterranean world. Walk its marble streets with your guide and explore the Library of Celsus, the Great Theatre, the Temple of Hadrian, baths, fountains and civic spaces that once shaped daily life in a major Roman city. As you explore, Ephesus comes alive as a story of trade, empire, belief, urban life and ambition. After the visit, enjoy free time to relax at your hotel, unwind by the pool or head to the nearby beach. In the evening, join an Aegean cooking class using seasonal ingredients, olive oil, vegetables and regional recipes, then sit down for dinner together.

Travel south through the Aegean, where ancient landscapes gradually give way to Bodrum’s whitewashed coastal charm.

Leave Şirince and continue south toward Bodrum, following a route shaped by ancient cities, rural landscapes and the blue edge of the Aegean. Arrive in Bodrum, a coastal town known for its whitewashed houses, bougainvillea, harbor life and relaxed seaside rhythm. The evening is free to walk the marina, explore the old lanes or simply enjoy the atmosphere.

Stay Bodrum, The Marmara Hotels 5* or similar Meals Breakfast

Discover Bodrum’s creative coastal spirit through its harbor, old town, local makers and relaxed Aegean rhythm.

Bodrum has long drawn artists, writers, sailors and travelers to its light, coastline and easygoing creative energy. This morning, enjoy a gentle introduction to the town, from the harbor and old quarter to views of the Castle of St. Peter and the everyday rhythm of Aegean life. Later, join a local artisan workshop, shaped by availability and the season. The focus may be ceramics, sandal-making, jewelry, weaving or another local craft, but the experience is always hands-on: you do not only watch, you create something yourself. The afternoon is free to relax, explore or enjoy the coast.

Stay Bodrum, The Marmara Hotels 5* or similar Meals Breakfast

Say goodbye to the Aegean coast, your travel crew and the country that gave you ten unforgettable days.

It’s time to say goodbye to Bodrum this morning as everyone heads off in different directions. Before you go, there may be time for one last walk by the marina, a final Turkish coffee or a few souvenirs to bring a piece of Turkey home with you.

Before You Book

Good to Know Before You Book

This journey is designed for travelers who want Turkey’s highlights with better pacing, local access and expert guidance. You’ll experience Istanbul, Cappadocia, Ephesus, Şirince and Bodrum without trying to squeeze too much into each day.

Is this journey right for you?

This trip is a good fit if you enjoy cultural travel, historic sites, local food, hands-on experiences, and a mix of guided touring and independent time. It is not a “rush from monument to monument” itinerary. The route is designed to give each destination its own mood: Istanbul’s layered history, Cappadocia’s surreal landscapes, Şirince’s village rhythm and Bodrum’s relaxed Aegean coastline.

You should be comfortable walking for several hours on some touring days. Surfaces may include marble streets at Ephesus, uneven paths in Cappadocia, steps in old towns, bazaar lanes, village streets and underground passages at Kaymaklı Underground City. The pace is moderate, but travelers should have reasonable mobility and be comfortable getting in and out of vehicles, walking through historic sites and managing occasional stairs.

This journey is ideal for travelers who value context, atmosphere and local access as much as sightseeing.
