The Experience

What this journey feels like

This journey feels like moving through the many layers of Morocco’s history. One day unfolds among Casablanca’s Atlantic architecture and Rabat’s royal landmarks; the next leads through Roman mosaics, monumental gates and the deep lanes of an ancient medina.

There is the quiet beauty of tiled courtyards, the energy of artisan workshops, the fragrance of spices drifting through the souks and the contrast between imperial grandeur and everyday life. By the time the journey reaches Marrakech, Morocco feels less like a collection of famous cities and more like a living story shaped by dynasties, faith, craftsmanship and hospitality.

“Morocco is a tree whose roots lie in Africa but whose leaves breathe in European air.”

King Hassan II of Morocco

Day by Day

Your 7-day itinerary

Welcome to Casablanca

Your journey begins on Morocco’s Atlantic edge.

Arrive in Casablanca, where you will be welcomed at the airport and privately transferred to your hotel. Depending on your arrival time, begin with a visit to the Hassan II Mosque, one of Morocco’s most important architectural landmarks, or enjoy a relaxed walk along the Corniche. The remainder of the day is at leisure. A welcome dinner can be added according to your arrival schedule and preferred dining style.

Stay Casablanca, selected boutique or premium hotel Meals None

A capital of monuments, gardens and quiet imperial elegance.

Travel to Rabat, Morocco’s elegant capital and one of its four Imperial Cities. Visit Hassan Tower and the Mausoleum of Mohammed V before continuing to the Kasbah of the Udayas, where white-and-blue lanes overlook the Atlantic and the Bouregreg River. Walk through the Andalusian Gardens and explore the historic Chellah Necropolis, where Roman and medieval remains sit among gardens and nesting storks. Stay overnight in or near the medina, with the evening free to enjoy Rabat’s relaxed atmosphere.

Stay Rabat, selected riad or boutique hotel Meals Breakfast, Lunch

Imperial gates and Roman mosaics lead toward Morocco’s spiritual heart.

Leave Rabat and travel to Meknes, an Imperial City associated with Sultan Moulay Ismail. See the monumental Bab El Mansour gate and explore selected historic sites such as the Royal Stables, Moulay Ismail Mausoleum and Dar Jamai Museum, subject to current opening arrangements. Continue to Volubilis, Morocco’s best-known Roman archaeological site. Walk among mosaics, columns, olive presses and triumphal remains while learning how the city once connected North Africa with the wider Roman world. Proceed to Fes for check-in at your riad.

Stay Fes, selected traditional riad Meals Breakfast, Lunch

Every alley reveals another craft, story and layer of history.

Spend the day exploring the UNESCO-listed medina of Fes with a private local guide. Navigate its narrow lanes, historic madrasas, fountains and artisan quarters while observing crafts that have been practiced for generations, from leatherwork and metalwork to pottery and weaving. Visit selected architectural and cultural landmarks according to current access and your interests, and pause for a traditional Moroccan lunch. The afternoon can include hidden gardens, panoramic viewpoints or additional artisan encounters before returning to the riad.

Stay Fes, selected traditional riad Meals Breakfast, Lunch

The journey crosses the country toward the energy of the Red City.

Depart Fes for Marrakech on the longest road journey of the itinerary. The route crosses central Morocco, with comfort stops and lunch arranged along the way. For a slower and more comfortable tailor-made version, this day can be divided with an additional overnight in Beni Mellal, Ifrane or another suitable location. Arrive in Marrakech and check in to your riad. In the evening, experience the atmosphere of Jemaa el-Fna before enjoying a traditional Moroccan dinner. Approximate driving: 530 km / 5.5 to 7 hours, depending on traffic and stops.

Stay Marrakech, selected riad or boutique hotel Meals Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner

Palaces, souks and hidden courtyards reveal the many faces of the Red City.

Discover Marrakech with your private guide, beginning with the refined courtyards and decorative craftsmanship of Bahia Palace. Continue through the Mellah, the historic Jewish quarter, before entering the souks, where spices, textiles, lanterns, leather and metalwork fill the maze of market streets. Enjoy a leisurely lunch and continue through hidden courtyards, traditional workshops and the lanes surrounding Jemaa el-Fna. The day can be adapted to include Majorelle Garden, Ben Youssef Madrasa, a private artisan visit, a food tour or additional time at leisure.

Stay Marrakech, selected riad or boutique hotel Meals Breakfast, Lunch

The suggested route ends in Marrakech, but the journey can continue in any direction.

Enjoy breakfast and private transfer to Marrakech Airport for your onward flight. A transfer to Casablanca Airport can also be arranged, though the journey is considerably longer and should be planned around the flight time. Because this is a tailor-made itinerary, additional nights in Marrakech or extensions to the Atlas Mountains, Essaouira, the Sahara or Chefchaouen can be added.

Before You Book

Good to Know

This route offers a compact introduction to Morocco’s Imperial Cities. It includes one substantial overland journey from Fes to Marrakech. For travelers who prefer a slower pace, an additional overnight can be added or the route can be redesigned using a domestic flight. Historic medinas are best explored on foot. Streets may be narrow, uneven or crowded, and some riads include stairs without elevators. Hotel and room selection should therefore take mobility and luggage requirements into account.

Is this journey right for you?

This journey is suited to travelers who want a private, culturally focused introduction to Morocco and are comfortable balancing guided sightseeing with road travel. It places greater emphasis on architecture, history, medinas and artisan traditions than on desert or mountain scenery.

The itinerary can be adapted for couples, families, senior travelers, private groups and luxury travelers. Daily start times, walking levels, dining and hotel categories can all be tailored.
